How It Works: Parliament on King’s mission is simple: to make lovely food. Being an asylum seeker or refugee can be a lonely and difficult thing. Finding a place to feel valued and wanted, where they can make a new start and a good life can be a very daunting. This is where Parliament on King lends assistance. Social catering is all about helping people overcome the common barriers in those circumstances by providing real work, training and community. As a social enterprise, Parliament of King provides hope and opportunity to asylum seekers, refugees and recent arrivals to Australia; they builds bridges of friendship and understanding (that help us all) and best of all they share delicious food prepared with a lot of love. Since 2020 they have been keeping their refugee and asylum seeker chefs working – while also feeding those who are struggling - for free. But they need a little help to keep doing it. Whether you donate a meal, attend a dinner banquet, or hire their catering team, you will be changing the world 

Why I love it: You’ll sample food from the homelands of asylum seekers and refugees (think Burmese/Rohingya, Iraqi, Iranian, Palestinean, Nepali, Sri Lankan, Ugandan and more). you’re more than welcome to ask them questions about the food they’ve prepared and their stories of how they have come to Australia.
