AOK Today: Share the dignity by gifting period products or using Dress for Dignity.
"Ensuring that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that so many of us take for granted" - Share the Dignity
How It Works: Share the Dignity works to make a real, on-the-ground difference in the lives of women and girls experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough. They distribute sanitary items to those in need and work to end period poverty here in Australia. You can help in 2 main ways:
Share the Dignity: Just $5 will help to provide a woman or girl experiencing homelessness through another period.
Dress for Dignity: Australia’s newest online platform where people can sell their pre-loved, quality fashion items to help build a deeper sense of community with 100% of funds from every transaction donated directly to Share the Dignity. A better planet, for everyone, everywear. Australia is the second highest consumer of textiles per person in the world, with each Australian consuming an average of 27 kilograms of new clothing per year and disposing an average of 23 kilograms of clothing to landfill each year. That’s enough landfill waste to cover Tasmania annually. A circular economy promotes reusing and recycling existing materials with the aim to significantly reduce waste and landfill. When you keep your pre-loved fashion in play for as long as possible, it’s conscious, it’s caring, it’s circular.
Cost: Free (to dress for dignity); from $5 for tampons/pad (I gifted the period undies for $25)
Why I love it: I truly believe in the mission that everyone should be afforded dignity in life. It also reminds me how privileged I am.
Happy Giving |XOX|
