AOK Today: Write a letter of compassion and love to someone in need via moreloveletters (or nominate someone you think could use some!)
"Let's stop romanticising the...quick results and let's lean into the slow burn, the gradual process, the everyday victories. Greatness may be slow but the best stories are written one word at a time." - Hannah Brencher
How It Works: From February 2023, every month, moreloveletters (MLL) pick 5-6 individuals who’ve been nominated by a loved one to receive what they call a “Love Letter Bundle.” A Love Letter Bundle is a massive amount handwritten mail — by people like you and me— from around the world reminding someone why they matter. They list new stories on their website every single month and you have the whole month to write a love letter to one or a few of the individuals. There are only three guiding rules: Be honest. Be real. Write from the heart. Head to the website, click the tab, 'the letter requests,' choose the person you would like to write to, and mail the letter by the listed deadline. Seal that baby up and drop it in the mailbox for your local postal worker. Your letter is going to end up in the hands of someone who needs your best words. You serve a purpose here + your words count. You can also nominate a loved one who you think could use a Love Letter Bundle.
Cost: Cost of a postage stamp
Why I love it: I absolutely love the story behind the initiative, which start, "Our story began on a 4 train in New York City." I encourage you to read it, and be part of the compassionate part of the human experience in Feb - seta reminder on your phone. Nominations are open now.
Happy Giving |XOX|
