AOK Today: Give a gift to someone who's grieving
"The foundation of grief is love, The love we share with people who are no longer here doesn't die." - Marisa Renee Lee
How It Works: Whether we're right in the thick of a recent loss, or we're struggling 10, 20 years later, we need to give ourselves, and others in our lives permission to grieve. There are no timelines. It's okay that we don't always show up as our best selves - either as a person experiencing grief, or as someone supporting a loved one experiencing grief. It's okay if you are/someone you love is hurting. It's okay if you/they are missing someone. While a life is gone, the love remains and one of the healthiest ways to live with loss, is in finding ways to continue to bond with those we've lost. Help give someone the permission to grieve with a little gift or card - no matter how long it has been since they lost someone important. Whether it was a new soul in a miscarriage or newborn, or someone they've known for many years. Remind them it's okay to grieve, and that you're here for them (that someone can be you too!).
Cost: Free!
Why I love it “The only cure for grief is to grieve." - Earl Grollman, and your gift might help someone more than you know. I got a "forget me not" dried flower necklace for a friend.
